Chart of Accounts Import

Use the Chart of Accounts Import file to manage your chart of accounts values. With this import file, you can add, update, and delete the segment values in your chart of accounts.

Note:The structure of a chart of accounts is created within PaymentNet. The Chart of Accounts Import file can only be used to manage segment values; it cannot be used to create, modify, or delete the chart of accounts structure.

  • Specified exactly the same way as the name appears in PaymentNet

  • Alphanumeric

  • 30 characters max

  • Less than or equal to the maximum length defined for the corresponding chart of accounts segment

  • Spaces are allowed

Segment

The name of the segment where the value is found

Must be:

  • Numeric

  • Value from 1-50

  • 2 characters max

Actual chart of accounts value

Must be:

  • Alphanumeric

  • 50 characters max; length based on chart of accounts definition

  • No spaces allowed

  • The following special characters are allowed: ‘ : ! () * & ^ % $ # ? + — _ = { } [ ] . @ ~ < > / \
    embedded space (space must be used with another character)
    “ (a single set of quotation marks must be used with another character)
    ‘ (a single quotation mark must be used with another character)

  • The following special characters are not allowed: | ,

Add/Update/Delete Flag

Indicates whether the record is for creating, updating, or deleting segment values.

Yes

Valid values are:

  • Add: for new rows containing data

  • Update: for existing rows to be updated

  • Delete: for rows to be removed

H

Blank Override

Specifies whether or not to replace existing values with null values when import file columns are blank.

Blank Override is only used where the Add/Update/Delete Flag is set to “Update” and only affects the “Description” field.

Best Practice: Set Blank Override to 0.

Yes

Valid values are:

  • 0: Retain the existing description if the Description column is left blank

  • 1: Overwrite the existing description with a null value if the Description column is left blank
