Hierarchy Import

Use the Hierarchy Import file to manage the hierarchy structure. With this file, you can add, update, and delete hierarchy nodes.

  • 508 characters max for organizations that use the duplicate hierarchy ID function

A description of the Hierarchy ID

Parent Hierarchy ID

The hierarchy ID immediately above the node that is being edited. The default value for this field is “Root.” If you change the name of the Root level, enter the new name in this field.

If your organization uses duplicate hierarchy IDs, this value is already included in the Hierarchy ID field.

Add/Update/Delete Flag

Indicates whether the record is for creating, updating, or deleting hierarchy nodes.

Valid values are:

  • Add: for new rows containing data

  • Update: for existing rows to be updated

  • Delete: for rows to be removed

Blank Override

Specifies whether or not to replace existing values with null values when import file columns are blank.

Blank Override is only used where Add/Update/Delete Flag is set to “Update”

Best Practice: Set Blank Override to 0.

Valid values are:

  • 0: Retain the existing value if the column is left blank. When adding multiple account numbers, set this field to 0.

  • 1: Overwrite the existing value with a null value if the column is left blank.
