Creating an Advanced Query for Transactions

You can perform complex searches for transactions information using Advanced Query options.

After you run an Advanced Query, you can save it for future use. Saved queries are available from the Query list on the Transaction List screen. You can also set an Advanced Query as the default query. The default query is run every time you display the Transaction List screen. For more information, see Managing Advanced Queries.

To create an Advanced Query for transactions:

  1. Select Transactions > Query, or select Transactions > Manage and click the Advanced Query button on the Transaction List screen.

  2. Complete the Date Range fields.

    Field

    Select the field by which you want to search.

    Operation

    Select the operation you want to use to measure the field value. Possible values are: Cycle Is, Is Between, Is Equal To, or Is Relative.

    Value

    Specify the field value. Depending on the type of field, you may be required to select a value from a drop-down list, enter a value in a text box, select a check box, or click the calendar icon and select a date.

    To apply additional date ranges to your search, click Add and complete the added fields. Use the Operator list to indicate whether a transaction must satisfy all the criteria (select All) or only one of the criteria (select Or) to be included in the query results. Repeat this step as often as necessary to specify all the date ranges for your search.

    To remove a date range from your query, click the corresponding Delete button. At least one date range is required.

  3. Complete the Criteria fields.

    Field

    Select the field by which you want to search.

    Operation

    Select the operation you want to use to measure the field value. The available operations will vary based on the field you select. Possible values include: Begins With, Contains, Is Equal To, Is Greater Than, Is Greater Than or Equal To, Is Less Than, Is Less Than or Equal To, and Is Not Equal To.

    Value

    Specify the field value. Depending on the type of field, you may be required to select a value from a drop-down list, enter a value in a text box, select a check box, or click the calendar icon and select a date.

    To add more criteria, click Add and complete the added fields. Use the Operator list to indicate whether a transaction must satisfy all the criteria (select All) or only one of the criteria (select Or) to be included in the query results. Repeat this step as often as necessary to specify all the criteria for your search.

    To remove search criteria, click the corresponding Delete button.

  4. To limit your search within a hierarchy, click the Add button in the Hierarchy section and complete the following fields.

    Hierarchy ID

    Enter the hierarchy ID by which you want to search. As you enter characters, a list of the hierarchy IDs that match your entered text will display; select the hierarchy ID when you see it in this list. Alternatively, you can click the link and select a node from the hierarchy tree.

    Include Children

    If you want to include hierarchy children in the search, select this check box. The search criteria will be applied to transactions in all the child nodes under the selected hierarchy ID.

    To include additional hierarchy IDs in your query, click Add again and complete the added fields. Repeat this step as often as necessary to specify all the hierarchy nodes for your search.

    To remove a hierarchy ID from the query, click the corresponding Delete button.

  5. To sort the search results, click Add and complete the Order By fields.

    Field

    Select the field by which you want the search results to be sorted.

    Order Sequence

    Select the display order, either Ascending or Descending.

    To sort by additional fields, click Add again and complete the added fields. Repeat this step as often as necessary to specify all the fields for the sort.

    To remove a field from the sort order, click the corresponding Delete button.

  6. To run your query, click Process. The query results display on the Transaction List screen.
