Dual Role Users

Each role within PaymentNet has a unique combination of scope-of-view and entitlement settings. The scope of view defines the data you can see. For example, a user assigned the Card Holder role with a scope of view of Self would see only their own account and transactions.

Entitlement settings refer to the permissions associated with editing data and completing other tasks. For example, a user assigned the Card Holder role and another user assigned the Transaction Approver role can both view the Transaction Detail screen. However, only the cardholder can mark a transaction as Reviewed, and only the transaction approver can mark a transaction as Approved.

PaymentNet allows users to have more than one assigned role. If you have multiple roles, your access when you log in to PaymentNet is based on your default role, which is assigned in your employee profile. You can change your default role by modifying your profile. You can switch between your assigned roles at any time using the role selector list on the PaymentNet toolbar.

When you have more than one role, the screen display varies based on the functional area you access. Generally, you will see data within the scope of view of your selected role. In some instances, you will see data based on all your assigned roles, regardless of which role is currently selected. The display settings for dual roles are summarized in the table below.

Report List

  • Scheduled standard reports: The output is limited to information within the scope of view of the role the user selected when the report was initially created. If no role is associated with the scheduled report, the system uses the scope of view of the user's combined roles.

  • Manually generated standard reports: The report output is limited to the scope of view of the user’s selected role.

  • Scheduled and manually generated custom reports: The output is based on the scope of view of the user’s combined roles.
