Report types: Template-based reports only
Use the options on the Sort and Group tab to add groups to your report based on the value in a specified field. For example, if your report includes transaction data, you could define a group for the cardholder’s last name. In the report output, all the transactions with the same last name will be listed together in a group. Each time the field value changes, it creates a visual break in the report output to signify the start of a new group.
A field can be used in either a sort or a group but not both.
Relationship between groups and calculations
If you want your report to include subtotals for a particular field, you must define a group for that field. The subtotals will appear at the end of each group in the report output.
To add a group:
On the Sort and Group tab, click Add Group.
Select a field from the Available Fields list, and select Ascending or Descending order.
To add a second group, click Add and repeat the previous step.
