You can set temporary limits at either the account level or the MCC Group level to increase or decrease a cardholder’s spending options for a specific time period. For example, at the account level you might need to temporarily increase a credit limit to accommodate travel expenses for a cardholder who is traveling abroad on business. Or at the MCC Group level, you might need to increase this cardholder’s spending limits for travel-related MCCGs.
You can also temporarily change a cardholder’s ability to make purchases from certain MCCGs by either allowing or prohibiting these MCCGs for a limited time. For example, if a cardholder needs to buy supplies for an annual event, you might want to allow them to make purchases for a limited time from MCCGs that are otherwise prohibited.
Temporary limits override permanent account limits. Once the end date for a temporary limit arrives, the permanent limit is restored. For information about how to modify permanent limits, see Editing a Card Account.
You can add the Temp Account Limit and Temp MCCG Limit columns to your screen view on the Account List screen to identify accounts where either type of limit has been applied. If one of these limits is in effect or has been scheduled for any of the accounts listed, a green check mark appears in the appropriate column. For more information about modifying your screen view, see Customizing Your Screen View.
